While I am not really open for commissions, sometimes someone will ask me if I am and present me with some ideas or parameters that just tickle my fancy enough to make me a liar. This was one of those times. A friend of mine asked me to make him a 3 x 5 pencil piece, wherein I had free-reign to draw whatever I felt like, as long as it was inspired by him and his interests. So, rodents, rodents, rodents! Music, hipster rodents! This was the result. The scans are a little less than optimal as is too often the way with pencil work, but it is what it is. He still hasn’t seen them, so I don’t know which he’ll choose, but surprises can be nice, amirite?

Since I needed a new sketch journal, and since it happened to be vol. 13, and SINCE Halloween is a-comin’, Ta-daa! Piotr is a character of mine from a lame geeky game I love love love to play. Here, he’s sporting some nice blood splatter and zombie gore, surely from all his adventures. This was done with a brush pen and a grey prismacolor marker. I’ve been trying to learn how to do some better things with typography, both digitally and hand-drawn, so this is a step in that learning process as well.

Decided I liked my little rodent drawing enough to turn it into a poster. I’m hoping to get a few pieces together to sell as prints sometime soon, maybe start up an Etsy shop. No promises- just a brainstorm. But while I was brainstorming, this happened. Now, if only I had more wall space for an 11 x 17 poster…. HMM.

I just bought myself a new backpack so I can more easily tote things to and from work (and backpacks are much comfier and way cooler than briefcases, IMO). It’s just a cheap, plain black bag, and I wanted to do something to it to spice it up. So, this is the design I’m going to paint onto it.
Rodents! Always every all the rodents. Of course!
Now then, off to go paint it onto the bag. (No better way to spend my birthday than painting. Yuss.) Here I go!
This is just a doodle I did last night- wanted to just sketch something fun and easy, so look! a face! 3/4 view! Super boring! Whatever, it achieved its goal: to be fun and easy! Yay!

Anyway, he turned out to be kinda cute, so I thought I’d post him. I’ve been working on a lot of things lately, but most of them aren’t really posting material. Stuff like getting Petrichor Machine up for sale! (heh what a shameless pimp!) And stuff like songwriting and comic development.
